Semantic Web is currently the most futuristic vision of the web. There is some controversy about it. Some people think that it is not realizable. It is also some times referred to as Web 3.0. Variations of semantic web are also known as DataWeb, LinkedData, Giant Global Graph etc. The technologies that make up semantic web have lots of acronyms:

RDF, OWL, Ontology, GRDDL, SPARQL, eRDF

Our focus here is more on RDF and representations like N3, Turtle to provide a semantic layer on top of regular data.
